The Buried Giant
A novel by Kazuo Ishiguro (2015)
“Our strange affliction interested him greatly and he questioned me again and again on the matter. And then he ventured something I dismissed at the time, but have since much pondered. The stranger thought it might be God himself had forgotten much from our pasts, events far distant, events of the same day. And if a thing is not in God’s mind, then what chance of it remaining in those of mortal men?”
A great arthurian novel with actually light arthurian elements! Mostly the shadow of Arthur here and there, and a stray knight… Not for everybody but I liked it!
- Here are a few WIP pictures (I liked the BW…)
King Arthur from OUAT in every scene (4/?) – “Merlin’s prophecies are never wrong.”
Arthur has always been rendered as the noble man who goes on the noble journey to become the noble king. But Ritchie had another take: he said, let’s do the opposite. Let’s make him ignoble and selfish with a heart of gold, but just a bit more rough around the edges.

I think the idea of Morgause as an enemy comes from modern novels and recent media. As far as I know, Morgause has always been quite innocent even in the whole incest ordeal, ending up accidentally sleeping with Arthur. Later on, with the fact that Mordred ends up being the main villain, Morgause has stolen some of that Morgana’s villain traits even if I admit I don’t remember a lot of novels where Guinevere is the one Morgause hates. While I definitely remember more novels where Morgana hates Guinevere (and old texts as well, like the whole Gawain and the Green Knight), Morgause’s hatred in modern novels seem to be directed towards Arthur.
I was thinking of making a discord chat, since the last time an anon asked me about it. Have to find out how it all works!
Loud, grey and overfilled with testerone, King Arthur is a tedious waste of two hours. Here’s my review.
Morgana kidnapped Sir Gawain and Valiant’s gotta get him back. This is so good on so many levels.
