my sweet sweet Mordred

lucrezianoin:

Recently I’ve read “Believe” by Victoria Alexander (review here) which is a romance novel between Tessa, a modern day professor who goes back in time, and Galahad. It’s cheesy but it was a fun reading too.
And my favourite quote is this one-

“You’ll pay for this, Mordred. You think you’ve won, but you haven’t. Till the end of time your name will be synonymous with evil and treachery. And he,” she glanced down at Galahad […], “he’ll be a hero. In the centuries to come, when kings and princes and wise men and even fools speak of things nobel and good they’ll speak of him. He’ll be loved. Always. And you’ll be…,” she spit the word, “nothing.”

Favourite as the one which makes me giggle a little because

well. Mordred. Probably one of the most loved characters in arthuriana

looking for mordred books (or galahad or morgana)

lucrezianoin:

hello! I was wondering if among the infinite amounts of arthurian books I have to read, there are some with a nice Mordred (good characterization, not necessarly a good guy)  or Galahad or Morgana I might have missed! in case someone knew D:

(books I’ve read here on goodreads)

I am not concerned at all about myself ,“ replied Arthur. “What I do now, I do for Britain. In this battle, I’m the Kingdom. No one can take my place or share my lot, because this fight is due to the king alone.”

He presented the matter succinctly. If all Britain should find peace, it had to be won by the person who held throughout Britain in hands. It was said: Arthur and none else. His would be the defeat or the fame. But if fame or loss, the fact befitted the rulers and had to be done by him alone.

“Pendragon”, Stephen Lawhead (via mistresspendragon)

bitesizedsurprise:

Might add some color later
AU idea set after everyone is reincarnated in the modernday. They feel drawn to England no matter how far away they were born.
Kay opens his own restraunt where all the college age brats of the round table work. Arthur is the sole heir to a massive multi million dollar corporation.
Agravain is a server.
Dinadan the host.
Gaheris is a busboy.
Gareth the dishwasher.
Brunor (not shown) is the one of the line cooks.
Gawain is an intern at Arthur’s office

Hi! I hope I’m not bothering you (and I’m sorry if I am), but I was reading your sympathetic Morgana & Mordred list and for some reason I started wondering, are there any Arthurian tv/movie adapatations with a sympathetic (villain or not) Morgause? Or, heck, are there even any tv/movie adaptations that have Morgause instead of Morgana, or even Morgause and Morgana together? If you know any, could you please make a list of those? Thank you!

lucrezianoin:

HI! Not bothering at all, I love writing lists of arthurian stuff haha

I’m posting the list, even if it’s a depressingly short!

Movies/Tv shows where there’s Morgause instead of Morgana, or where is the main villain in general:

  • “Excalibur Kid” is an amazingly fun movie where Morgause is a Arthur’s sister and the villain, but never too clichey, she is kind of fun, as she is a teenager girl who decides to put a random kid in Arthur’s place, to manipulate him.
  • “Kaamelott” tv show. Morgause appears (named Anna) during the last seasons (last two if I am not wrong, or just the last one). She is Arthur’s half sister and his enemy. While Morgana is not a villain and appears a couple of episodes only. Also, there will soon be a movie.

Morgana and Morgause working together:

  • “The Mists of Avalon”, where Morgause is definitely the villain, opposed to a more sympathtic Morgana
  • “Merlin” BBC tv show

Sadly, I can’t remember of any other shows/movies. Technically, Morgana in Camelot Starz would be Morgause (married to Lot), so I’ll add this as well.

I hope it helped!

bewhothouart:

I watched Camelot for the first time last night. I definitely enjoyed it, but then this little gem put it over the top! King Arthur and Lancelot discussing the current activities of Camelot. I wish the BBC series could have found a way to reenact this!

And yes, the man in red is Richard Harris, aka Dumbledore in the first two films.

Ahh this is the 1982 (more or less) stage version? I love it, haha.
