Le Morte Darthur Abridged: Uther pt 20

Merlin: (disguised) hey can I have a gift?
Arthur: fuck off random peasant
Merlin: it would be better if gave me one because I can tell you you’re standing on buried treasure
Arthur: yeah sure peasant and my sword is really a duck
Merlin: it’s true merlin told me
Sir Ulfius: um, sire, pretty sure this is merlin disguised again
Arthur: shit whoops

  1. @heroofthreefaces said: As for funny incident – Graves refers to the tournament at Serleuse as the only comic interval in the Morte but my favorite is during the campaign to Rome when Gawaine defeats Sir Priamus and then tells him, “Oh, I’m no knight, I’m just King Arthur’s yeoman.”

Gawain: A jewel among many.

→ historical places: Glastonbury Tor

Glastonbury Tor is a hill at Glastonbury in the English county of Somerset, topped by the roofless St Michael’s Tower. The conical hill of clay and Blue Lias rises from the Somerset Levels. It was formed when surrounding softer deposits were eroded, leaving the hard cap of sandstone
exposed. The slopes of the hill are terraced, but the method by which
they were formed remains unexplained. Artifacts from human visitation
have been found, dating from the Iron Age to Roman eras. Several buildings were constructed on the summit during the Saxon and early medieval periods; they have been interpreted as an early church and monks’ hermitage. The head of a wheel cross
dating from the 10th or 11th century has been recovered. The original
wooden church was destroyed by an earthquake in 1275, and the stone
Church of St Michael built on the site in the 14th century. Its tower
remains, although it has been restored and partially rebuilt several
times. The Tor is mentioned in Celtic mythology, particularly in myths linked to King Arthur, and has a number of other enduring mythological and spiritual associations. X

Arthurian Meme: 8, 23, 42

I’M TERRIBLE. I AM ANSWERING THIS SO LATE. Stuff happened, sorry!!

8- Favourite object?

I have conflicting emotions but I love the Grail. I am not a superfan of the original Grail literature but this object for me is so mysterious, so strange and easy to different interpretations that it’s without doubts the most interesting one!

23- Single funniest incident in legend?

FUNNY INCIDENT. Is Morgana changing herself and her soldiers into stone a funny incident?

Or a monk accidentally revealing Mordred his heritage and… getting killed for it. Whops.

42- Headcanons!

SO MANY. I’ll chose a couple of them. First of all, Morgana as a woman with an extremely scientific mind and quite disinterested in power, but more interested in leaving her sign on the world (just differently from Arthur). Guinevere as being very rational as well, but with a very people mind, able to easily take care of the castle even if at the beginning Kay was the one to teach her and they learnt so much one from the others, knowing that Kay had lived in not really a castle and Guinevere had never ruled over such a big military castle. KAY AND GUINEVERE AS BFF.
