Racebent Arthuriana (2/?): The  Princes of Orkney

Prabhas as Gawain, the loyal, humble, and proto-feminist one.

Rana Duggubati as Gaheris, the troubled but cute one.

Ram Charan Teja as Gareth, the unrealistically idealistic one.

Allu Arjun as Agravain, the unpopular (but always right) one.

Siddharth as Mordred, the youngest–and doomed to be damned–one.

I really want to write a story about my own take on Arthurian legends, but I don’t want to anger the fandom or anything if I change something up. Any suggestions?

MY FRIEND

you won’t anger anyone!! I’ve actually never heard of someone getting angry at reinterpretation in the fandom (here on tumblr and lj at least).

For example (and I can only talk about myself here), the only reasons why I have disliked a re-adaptation had been plotholes, issues with female characters or simply the way it was written, but never the take on the legend. Actually, the more strange and different, the better. It is the reason why I keep looking for arthurian novels and I still collect and read them : D

One of my favourite is actually A Connecticut Fashionista in King Arthur’s Court. It is ridiculous, it is original. The strangest the adaptation, the better,

I think there is a thin line between adaptation and completely new and different story that only use characters with the same names, but this line will probably be different from person to person because everyone has an “idea” of what should make each arthurian character (for example, for me the son-father relationship is very important in Mordred character). Still, I feel people are kinder to books and stories that don’t presume to “tell you the real legend” (King Arthur 2004, I am looking at you).

Have fun with your story! (and now I am curious : D let me know more)
