#workinprogress. I’m working on an illustration of Camelot and this is a small detail from that scene. Yo, I know I’ve said this before, but because this has been a Long Week for me and is, I sense, going to be a Long Night, I just want to re-iterate that my followers/anyone who happens upon this blog should please feel free (like, VERY FREE) to send me asks, introduce yourself, tell me Fun Facts about yourself, whatever! Just babble to me about Critical Role! Who’s your favorite character, do you ship anyone, what’s your favorite episode/scene/moment, what’s some random meta that’s been running through your head lately? Do you have any feelings about Arthurian legend? What book should I read/show or movie should I watch/musical should I listen to, and why? What’s a weird quirky hobby you have that no one else wants to hear you rant about?
SEND ME ASKS. SEND ME ALL THE ASKS.
Do you have any preference for characters? : D
I really enjoy The Legend of King Arthur (10 episodes, from the 70s) and Kaamelott as tv shows, while Monty Python and the Holy Grail is still my favourite movie, alongside literally any version of the Camelot musical.
About novels, it depends on the characaters, I think, but as a Kay and Mordred fan, I truly enjoyed Idylls of the Queen (Karr), Exiled from Camelot (Baldry) and The Winter Prince (Elizabeth Wein) and as a Guinevere fan my favourite is Persia Wolley’s Guinevere trilogy.
The Legend of King Arthur Episode 7
Guinevere stands accused of adultery, ready for Arthur’s judgment. Unfortunately, the punishment for the crime is death by fire. Bors refuses to sit silent and believing Guinevere innocent, he exiles himself from Camelot. The day of the execution, Bors and Lancelot storm in and free Guinevere from the stake, killing Agravaine and Gareth in the commotion. Gawain asks Arthur for revenge, while Morgan and Mordred pretend to try to calm the situation. Arthur is convinced to march upon France, against Lancelot, and makes Mordred regent of Camelot.
Later on, Morgan finds out that Mordred has spoken to Arcon, king of the Saxons, for how to mantain the peace. Furious for having not known of this before, Morgan reminds him that she was the one who made this plan, that made Mordred into what he is.
In France, Arthur is ready to attack Lancelot’s castle, while Bors tries to reassure Guinevere. Lancelot and Guinevere think of their dream of chivalry and love and how unhappy it made them, at the end. Margaret, Gunevere’s servant, asks to be sent to Arthur to plead for his mercy. Once there, the woman manages to convince Arthur that a war would mean the destruction of the Round Table and that Guinevere does still love him. Guinevere, while loving Lancelot, never betrayed Arthur and does love her husband still. Arthur decides to accept Guinevere back and exile Lancelot, without any bloodshed.
Once Guinevere is safely back to Arthur to be escorted back to Camelot with Bedivere, Gawain challenges Lancelot to a fight to the death. During the fight, Lancelot tries to convince Gawain to stop, close to defeating him, but Gawain keeps refusing. Once Lancelot has won, he still refuses to strike the deadly blow, but Gawain has been wounded in the fight.
Back in Camelot, Guinevere is welcomed by Mordred, but soon finds the court filled with Saxons, hired by him.
