NIMUE by Cait Zellers
A re-imagining of the Camelot legend as told by the Lady of the Lake.
Guys I’m super scared of actually coloring things…WIP
New Brunor with a whole new attitude. Brunor is an angry little brother. The king has forgiven Lancelot for the murder of his brother. Dinadan has befriended Lancelot and never even mentions Brunor to the court. Now Bru seems to be the only one who wants Lancelot to be held accountable. Except for maybe the Seneschal.
Had this fic idea for a while now.
Excalibur and King Arthur
icpe:
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, 1
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a very well-known arthurian tale written in the late 14th century. The comic will follow the original poem exactly, save from certain lines or entire stanzas being omitted just for faster story-telling and a more streamlined narrative. I hope to present the poem in a way that it can be appreciated by those who don’t have the opportunity to study it in school, or who don’t have the time to make sense of it on their own outside of school.
I will be experimenting with my art style in this comic. I already got ahead of myself here with this first page and allowed my art style to become more realistic than what I am comfortable with, and I want to pull it back into a more controlled, cartoonish style in the next page. There are a lot of things I’m disappointed with in this page, but also a lot of things I’m very happy with. Overall, I would call it a big success, considering that 3 of the 5 panels were fairly expansive landscapes (which I am just the worst at). If you don’t point out the wonky perspectives in a couple of the panels, then I won’t either.
This is amazing!
Valiant Previews: IMMORTAL BROTHERS: THE TALE OF THE GREEN KNIGHT #1 – On Sale April 12th!
Written by FRED VAN LENTE
Art by CARY NORD with CLAYTON HENRYIt’s winter at King Arthur’s court in Camelot! The monstrous Green Knight has appeared before the Round Table with no armor, a gigantic axe, and a challenge. He has come to insist that the weaker knights participate in a friendly “winter’s game” where anyone can strike him once with his axe, but on one condition: That the Green Knight can return the exact blow in one year’s time. King Arthur has agreed to face the mysterious knight himself, but the Round Table’s youthful and most gallant champion, Sir Gilad, takes up the challenge to protect his king. Much to the court’s surprise, the Green Knight doesn’t flinch as his head is struck clean off…only to pick it up himself and warn Gilad that he is fated to receive the same blow before the year is out. Now, Gilad – the Eternal Warrior – must solve the mystery of who the Green Knight is before his hour at the axe comes to pass! But first, he’ll need to find some help…in the form of his own immortal brothers – Armstrong and Ivar – who shall be united once more!
Hic Jacet Arthurus
It is New Year’s Day at King Arthur’s court, and a mysterious knight in green arrives at the holiday feast with a peculiar demand. He challenges anyone present to strike a blow against him with his fearsome great axe – but on the condition that, in one year’s time, he may deliver the same blow in return.
The Green Knight Kickstarter is live! Help me put my comic in print:
kickstarter.com/projects/emilycheeseman/gawain-and-the-green-knight
The print edition of Gawain and the Green Knight will be a 64-page, 8 x 8” hardcover book with 64 full-color interior pages, with a clothbound cover inspired by vintage storybooks (and stamped in green foil!) A digital PDF of the complete story is available to all pledge tiers, and I’m also offering other rewards like stickers, a gold foil print, and a mini comic of another story starring Gawain.
Your support is greatly appreciated! If you’ve read the web version of the comic or you’re a fan of Arthurian stories, check out the project or spread the word if you can! I have 30 days to reach a goal of $7000 to produce these books – this has been a passion project over a year in the making and I’m super excited to see it go to print. Thank you!!
