The Kid Who Would Be King trailer

From the makers of Attack the Block, though this seems more firmly aimed at kids this time.

Yay for the references to Tintagel (a place in Cornwall that’s supposedly the birthplace of Arthur, they have a statue of him there) and a tower which looks like Glastonbury (either the site of his burial or Camelot, depending on who you ask).

GUYS!!! GUYS!!

arthurian media coming soon (?)

fuckyeaharthuriana:

It’s getting harder to find new arthurian media without the imdb character function, but here’s some!

  • No new information, as far as I know on

The Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell maybe chosen for a tv show [x]

  • A new Netflix series by Frank Miller, where Nimue is the main character [x]
  • Galahad movie (I can see a sneak peak of the plot from the google search and it says “removed from Camelot to a futuristic realm and forced to battle against the greatest fighters of all time or see everything he has come to love”) [x]
  • Mordred movie, which has a trailer already [x] and from their website it looks like they are editing it
  • The Sword in the Stone action movie is moving forward and now has a director [x]
  • The webseries The Campaign for Camelot is ongoing so expect new episodes! [x]
  • Also! Kaamelott is still in the making (the movie) so hopefully we’ll have news on that as well!

And for a sad news, The Librarians has been cancelled, so there won’t be any season 5 or more arthurian exploration in that!

Plus: of course, I don’t have to write it, but we all now the Guy Ritchie’s franchise idea is dead!

Thanks to a kind anon, more news:Disney wants to create an adaptation of the T. A. Barron’s Merlin books. They contacted Ridley Scott (director) and Philippa Boyens is the writer. [x]
The new Hellboy movie is coming out soon (2019) and it is based on a comic with arthurian elements. Among these, the Blood Queen is supposed to be Nimue (and is played by Milla Jovovich). [x]

2 new additions 4 your New Arthurian Media post: 1)Disney wants Ridley Scott 2 direct movies based on TA Barron’s Young Merlin Saga. 2)In January 2018 we’ll have a new Hellboy movie based on “Wild Hunt” comic, which talks abt Celtic&Arthurian myth. Morgan, Arthur &Nimue appear. Mignola (Hellboy’s creator) says the movie is faithful 2 the comic. Nimue aka “Queen of Blood” is the villain, played by Milla Jovovich. With Hellboy & Netflix, it seems we’ll have a lot of Nimue, both as hero & villain!

Thank you so much, anon! I am adding everything to the post!

Netflix Orders TV Series ‘Cursed’ From Frank Miller & Tom Wheeler Based On Book Reimagining King Arthur Legend

chicagosavant:

IDK–I liked the aesthetic of ‘Sin City’, especially the first one. Its no apologies, in your face, pretty well stereotyping alpha male gun-slingers with feisty, slinky kitties worked for a story that didn’t try to be anything other than entertaining.
I’m just not sure the same thing will translate well with the tales of subRoman/Dark Age Britain, or even the Norman Knights a Makeovers of the later romances.
After the last many disappointments at trying resurrect the Tales of the Arthuriad onto the screen, I just fear if this flops…well, there ain’t no lady in a lake to catch the sinking sword here. If ya’ know what I mean…

I am cringing, but I am also curious, I guess

SWORD LEGACY OMEN: THE HEROES OF BROKEN BRITANNIA

A new trailer introduces our unlikely band of heroes.

UK – 22nd September 2017 – Award-winning games label Team17 has today announced a new trailer for Sword Legacy: Omen, a turn-based strategy game developed by Firecast Studios and Fableware Narrative Design.

In Sword Legacy Omen, you never fight alone. On your journey through Broken Britannia, a band of unlikely heroes joins Uther Pendragon and vows to aid him in his quest for vengeance. Each hero is individually equipped with both passive and active skills and your comrades’ different strengths are crucial to dominating the battlefield. Combine and complement the skills of your party to pick the right team for every situation.

The Heroes of Broken Britannia

Uther: The Fallen Knight

The unwilling leader of the group and once one of Britannia’s greatest champions. Uther is set on a path of revenge after the murder of his Lord and craves for blood. Eviscerate your foes with heavy sword attacks, breaking their willpower in brutal close-quarters combat.

Flint: The Wild Keeper

The first non-human member of the group, a Faye. Armed with a bow and deadly precision, Flint’s vigilant eye and wicked spirit provide ranged support on the battlefield. Call on the wilds of the woods and bring your loyal wolf and wily raven to join the fray.

Felix: The Faithful Priest

A vital member of the team, Felix uses his faith in the goddess Terah to heal his comrades and provide buffs to weapons and armor. Don’t be fooled by his appearance, he also has the power to curse foes and strikes…a little odd.

Gwen: The Devious Thief

She swiftly dashes among crowds and pickpockets with her deft hands. Yet, the only thing sharper than her daggers is her tongue. Use stealth to your advantage, flank your enemies and deliver brutal finishing blows before disappearing into the shadows.

Gorr: The Gutsy Blacksmith

The second Faye of the group, Gorr can use the power of the smelt to torch enemies in a devastating inferno. Lay brutal iron traps for your enemies to fall into, leaving them vulnerable for a merciless smack of the hammer.

Merlin: The Eldritch Sorcerer

Everyone has heard tales of the cryptic old man who travels the land of Broken Britannia. Hailing from an unknown origin and with power beyond measure, Merlin is able to use an arsenal of powerful spells to burn, electrocute and bewitch foes.

Duanne: The Loyal Lancer

An inexperienced lad whose love for adventure drives him to conquer all fears and travel the world. Duanne uses the lance to aid his friends by dragging enemies into range, using the weapon’s size to his advantage by slashing multiple foes at once.

Ferghus: The Fearless Barbarian

Don’t bother telling Ferghus the times are changing and vicious battles of yore are over. This fearsome Barbarian of brutal strength obliterates his enemies with devastating blows from his long axe. Rough, tough and ready to fight, Ferghus is a stoic cold remnant of a culture on the verge of radical change.
